Description
I took this photograph in Ireland near the Giants Causeway. It reminded me of Mountain Laurel, but I later found out it was a Hawthorne bush. Seeing that it is so beautiful, I decided to give it the name Colleen.

I agree, at first glance this resembles mountain laurel, which is in full bloom right now. Beautiful capture of an exquisite flower. Thank you for your kind comments on my work. Yours is amazing....I feel honored.
Patricia Griffin Brett replied:
Thanks so much, Teresa :) I thought it looked like mountain laurel, but knew it wasn't, so asked someone in Ireland & they told me it was hawthorne. It was very beautiful :)

how beautiful ... I bet there was an incredible fragrance!!!!!!!!!
Patricia Griffin Brett replied:
Thank you, Lois. I was told it smells wonderful, but I've lost my sense of smell, so I can't tell :(

You have such an eye for beauty that I am doubly encouraged by all your kind comments on my paintings. It is difficult to decide which of your photographs I like best, but perhaps this wild hawthorne appeals because (although photographed in Ireland) it reminds me of England!
Patricia Griffin Brett replied:
Thank you, Mai, for your really nice compliment. It took me a while to find out exactly what type of plant this was. But another artist from Ireland helped me track down the name. It's strange because I had one in my yard, but it had never bloomed, so I didn't know what it looked like. When I saw this, I knew I had to have a picture of it.
