MY PERSONAL ARTIST STATEMENT I'm a self-taught artist and strongly believe that everyone is given the gift of creativity when we're born. We're all presented with different opportunities to develop our creativity (some more advantageous than others), and we use the gifts we're given in different ways. I find inspiration in nearly everything. I could not imagine having a life without creativity involved. Drawing, painting, mixed media, photography, clay, lampwork (making glass beads), weaving, and beadwork are some of the classes & workshops I've taken to try & improve on the skills I do have. Gun Legler
What a fantastic close up! Love his hungry expression!
Patricia Griffin Brett replied:
Thanks, Gun! I have LOTS of good ones of seagulls!!! :D We found out they love French fries!
Athala Carole Bruckner
Amazing....love this.He looks like he could fly right off the page...awesome ...
Patricia Griffin Brett replied:
Thanks, Athala! I have a ball photographing seagulls on the beach. All you need is something they'll eat, throw it up in the air, & they do all kinds of tricks!!! HA-HA! :D

Patricia~I just love this one! It's very expressive. And this guy is definitely in a demanding mode! The sky is nicely done contrast to the bird and I like the soft feeling of the bird without so much high detail in this particular work. Well done!
Patricia Griffin Brett replied:
Thank you, Lenore! If you ever want to get good seagull pictures, feed them! HA-HA! I used to get my husband to feed them French fries or popcorn & then just snapped away. That's how I get most of my photos of them! :D They become very cooperative models! I used to hold up French fries in my fingers & they'll fly right to me & take the food out of my hand! People were amazed that they'd do that! It makes for some good shots! :D This one had perched on the railing where I was standing! He was VERY demanding! HA-HA!
